It’s no surprise that retail has plummeted the past few years. The economy, alone, has been an utter disaster. Consumers are strictly looking for the best deals and why not? E-commerce has changed the way people shop dramatically. You can buy goods from across the world with free shipping, better prices, superior quality, and in bulk. For example, in my last internship I helped my boss style her outfits for New York Fashion Week (NYFW). By shopping online, I saved her over $500. It’s all about keywords and knowing what
Read MoreAlthough I wear high-waisted shorts, crop tops, and big-rimmed glasses every day, I am not a hipster! (See: hip-hop, see: I don’t shop at American Apparel, see: don’t like trash ‘staches, see: my intense love for guys who look like thug rappers). At the same time, the one thing I’m really hipster-y about is that I refuse to believe the hype. So much so, in fact, that when something has hype surrounding it, I’m automatically turned off to it. This has caused me to miss out on a lot of awesome
Read MoreUnibrows can be fierce and badass. Unfortunately, Americans don’t typically crave that singular wave of emotionally-charged expressive hair that perches atop our lovely eyes. Eyebrows are a thing of character. Less is more, some people are apt to say. But thick, natural brows are trending and we’re just a few lazy Sundays away from abandoning plucking altogether. This would be a favor to all the pubescent American middle school girls who are being introduced to tweezers by their older sister on her futon one bored afternoon. Until that day, I
Read More21 states and the District of Columbia have either decriminalized marijuana or legalized its medicinal use. Who’s next? Quinnipiac University released a study that found 88% of Floridians are in favor of medical marijuana so long as it is used in accordance with a doctor. Florida will vote on an amendment, Florida’s Question 2, this coming November. The vote requires 60% to pass. In Florida, cannabis possession is slightly decriminalized but the sale, transportation, or cultivation of the drug remain illegal. If Florida votes to legalize medical marijuana, look for them to continue
Read MoreDon’t get me wrong; I’m a supporter of the modern day selfie. In fact, I’m a founding member of the selfie sisterhood, dating all the way back to disposable cameras and MySpace mirror shots. See: Mom and me, age 13. Dog and me, age 16. Whatever I’m wearing and me, age 17. I’m all for the self-love and self-empowerment that comes with sharing one’s face (hair, makeup and shoe choice) on social media. Seriously. Let your multi-colored hair down and (for those out of high school) show off that Atlantic City dress you
Read MoreWedding season is about to be here! New York Spring Bridal Week has presented some of the most beautiful gowns on the runway. Designers focused on airy, delicate gowns that any bride would swoon over. Sleeves were a main focus along with illusion looks that had tattoo style lace. Vera Wang, Reem Acra, and Monique Lhuiller showed illusion necklines, sleeves, and back details. Monique Lhuiller even presented a mint green tulle ball gown that easily became my favorite. Her inspiration this year was “My Ethereal Daydream.”She drew inspiration from American portrait

I finally feel like a man!” “But, oh my god, you look sooo dirty!” Regardless of your personal feelings on the situation, facial hair is here to stay – at least for a couple months until perms claw their way back to the top. It’s gonna happen. The facial hair transplant business is a-boomin’, too. Yeah, you read that right. In case you have not heard, follicly-impaired men across the country are now shelling out anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000 to graft from their scalps to their faces
Read MoreIt’s that time of year again, when all your hipster friends bring out their inner trust fund baby and venture to Indio, California for three days of sweat, dust, and ridiculous outfit choices. Remember your sweet friend Sally? Okay, maybe it was kind of strange that she didn’t wear shoes to school the other day, but you’re about to see a brand new side of her as she corrupts your feed with a horrific Instavideo of her dry-humping the desert floor…naked. On the bright side, Sally just got fired and
Read MoreAs a twenty-something year-old woman living in a city that is highly populated with single individuals, I have become quite familiar with Tinder. Newly single, ready to mingle, and hungry for Pringles, I committed to eating for a work week only while on Tinder dates. I approached each date with the intention of getting to know each man and considering him in my dating life post-meal. However, as an individual notorious for her hanger (the dangerous combination of hungry and angry), I realized it was crucial to be strategic in

What better way to start celebrating the slopes than getting an amazing jacket! There are two main types of ski jackets that are available – the insulated jacket and the shell jacket. Each can be worn skiing and/or snowboarding. INSULATED JACKET Insulated jackets help to provide warmth when it’s cold outside – without having to wear too many layers. They use a synthetic fabric on the outside, which is
Read MoreApril has finally arrived! As great as the transition to warmer weather is, we all know April showers bring May flowers. Rain boots are now a necessity. Here are a few tips when deciding which kind to choose, and a few of my favorites. Women with longer legs should try to wear boots that reach higher on the leg – in order to showcase their elongated legs. Petite ladies, lean more towards the shorter length. They are not only more fashionable, but also lightweight! If you’re a consumer that needs
Read MoreInstant gratification is exhausting. We are a generation that can get what we desire immediately, we want what we want when we want it, and we can have it. In a time like this, the word “patience” can be as foreign to us as the idea of mailing hand-written letters for communication purposes; both unnecessary and rather annoying. This instant gratification mentality can leave us in an uneasy state of quantity versus quality, and distracts us from a more meaningful existence full of things out of our control – a

Since spring is approaching fast, I felt it was fitting to recap and delve into the refreshing new trends of spring. 2014 spring trends will include: nautical stripes, safari jackets, sea blues, grassy greens, fresh prints, and slip-on sneakers. To elaborate on nautical stripes, they will arrive in different widths and lengths. The attraction to this trend is that they look graphic and striking on every man. They are also

Spring is approaching, and with weddings and reunions on the calendar, we will be reunited with friends we haven’t seen in awhile because we are done hibernating and the sun is out. You’re going to be asked about your profession, your love life, and if you’ve signed up for any half-marathons. Panic can present itself when we are thrown into these events after a winter of eating Girl Scout cookies and Tinder dates (not eating the dates…you know what I mean). Here are five simple steps

So the next step was obvious, right? You can now make a DIY flappy bird clone! Go to this website, upload two photos, give it a name, and BOOM:
