2014 is the year to start thinking outside the box for your summer vacation. Consider some of these intriguing fictional destinations for a most memorable trip.   The Shire With beautiful scenery and legendary charm, the Shire is the perfect destination for those who enjoy a Bed and Breakfast type vibe. Silicon Valley Season One Review

HBO’s Silicon Valley ended it’s debut season with the episode, “Optimal Tip-To-Tip Efficiency.” The guys at Pied Piper started the season with a simple algorithm for a compression company. What any of that means, not even main character Richard Hendricks knew until the very end of the season, and even then he changed the whole face of the company in the show’s final moments. Along the way, he had the help of a hilarious group of techies all incubating under the roof of Aviato founder, Erlich Bachman. Hats off to comedian TJRead More

Famous Characters from Literature on Reality TV

There exists in this world great literature. In this same world, there also exists Reality TV. Here’s what would happen if the two were combined… Jay Gatsby of The Great Gatsby: The Bachelor Chris Harrison is so Nick Carraway. Picture their Pre-Rose Ceremony sit downs. Chris Harrison: “So Jay, how do you feel about Ashlee telling you that she is falling in love with you?” Gatsby: “Well, old sport, I just really hope my ex Daisy is watching this.” Gatsby would take those cocktail parties to the next level. He’s soRead More
When I first entered the bar scene at the ripe age of 21, I was a nervous wreck. For one, I may have been 21, but I looked about 12 (or so I was harshly told) …so I had this unfounded paranoia that I just didn’t really belong and would subsequently be stuffed in trash cans or kicked out and have cheap liquor thrown in my face if I even attempted to order a drink. Furthermore, my only experience with alcohol up until that point had been whatever horrid concoctionsRead More

5 Epic TV Show Speeches

5 – Rick in The Walking Dead The, “We let go of all of it,” speech. In the midseason finale of Season 4, Rick pours his heart out and tells his audience at the fence of the prison that we can forget the past. If everyone will put down their weapons, they can all live together as one. It’s an unprecedented moment showing the character growth of Rick Grimes. A leader stands alone in front of his enemy directly in harm’s way asking for a new beginning separate from all theRead More
Do you like magic? Do you like comedy? I’m guessing you answered yes to both of those questions, cause let’s be honest: who doesn’t like being amazed and laughing? NOBODY, that’s who. So, assuming you like those things and aren’t some miserable curmudgeon, I’d like to introduce you to your new addiction: Tru Tv’s The Carbonaro Effect, starring magician/comedian Michael Carbonaro. Haven’t seen the show yet? Haven’t heard of it? Well, worry not, because the show actually premieres May 15th at 10PM Eastern. However, a first glimpse of this surefireRead More
In case you’ve been living under a rock, on Jupiter, then you know the NFL Draft happened last weekend and a defensive player from Missouri got drafted by St. Louis in the seventh round. He was really good in college, played on a really good team in a really good conference, and was the defensive player of the year in that conference. He’s a tad undersized for his position but he makes up for physical deficiencies by playing with maximal effort all the time. He attacks the quarterback with frequency,Read More
*Spoilers Ahead*   First off, I want to say that I love Game of Thrones. I have an unhealthy obsession with the show, the books, everything. Even this episode has some good moments. Seriously, watch it. But…. let’s face it, the episode Breaker of Chains sucked because….   1. HBO loves unnecessary nudity. Literally every episode so far has been screaming “Hey! Look at Oberyn! He likes men and women! See, he has orgies!!” Alright, we’ve seen him seducing everyone in sight now for several episodes. He’s bisexual and proud. Got it. Can weRead More
While everyone is rehashing the latest episodes of Mad Men and Game of Thrones next Monday, I’ll be embarking on quite a different adventure.  April 21st marks the return of Cartoon Network’s cult animated series Adventure Time, which will be entering its sixth season.  Full of frenetic characters and colorful fantasy locales, it’s easy to see why the show has been such a phenomenal success with the network’s preteen demo, but that’s not all this wacky cartoon brings to the table.  In fact, it’s difficult to describe its appeal withoutRead More

Earl Hickey: From Zero to Hero

My name is Awesome. Oh sorry I meant “Earl.” My Name is Earl. The hilarious show is absolutely amazing and deserves nothing but a 5 star rating, even if the option existed to only give 4 stars. I was blessed to be given the opportunity to watch it on a hard drive. Because of this, I was able to see all 4 seasons continuously. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard I had tears coming out of my eyes. This genius show is based around the character,Read More

#WCW: Lili Simmons

-Lili Simmons- Twitter: @Liliflower33 Instagram: liliflower33 Known for: Starring in Banshee on Cinemax; being a sexy seductress in HBO’s True Detective. -Okay, so I recently binged the whole first season of HBO’s incredible series, True Detective, and let me say – the show’s sexy women are worth the price of admission, even if you don’t like the show itself (which is impossible, the entire series is AMAZING). So, all week long I’ve been debating which gorgeous girl from True Detective to feature here: Alexandra Daddario, Lili Simmons, or the wild card, Erin Moriarty.Read More

Keep an Eye Out for the Carbonaro Effect

I love Impractical Jokers. That hilarious show is pretty much the reason I watch Tru TV…well, other than the first rounds of March Madness, of course. So while viewing Impractical Jokers the last few weeks, I’d been noticing a few previews for a show that looked kindasorta intriguing: The Carbonaro Effect.  After seeing these brief trailers for the show, I was interested enough that I decided to watch the full 20-minute pilot that Tru TV broadcast on April Fools Day. But make no mistake – Michael Carbonaro and his upcoming show are noRead More
I thought I’d briefly inform you of a show coming soon. You’ll be remiss if you miss it. Called I Wanna Marry Harry, it’s a show that brings 12 man-thirsty young women to a house in Berkshire, England. Of course, they are under the assumption that they are there to meet Prince Harry. The twist? Harry is not actually on the program. Instead, the manly man protagonist is a Prince Harry look-a-like named Matthew Hicks. Well done, Seacrest, well done. We all remember Joe Millionaire (also a Fox show), whereRead More

I Thought I Had One Dad…Nope I Have Two

There are very few things I am wrong about. I don’t mean that in the cocky “I’m always right” way, it’s something I pride myself in for the simple fact I enjoy not having to make retracting statements. I like what I like, and nothing changes that. I’m set in my ways about food; I hate peppers, onions, and bleu cheese; I’m that way about music; I’ll listen to anything but country; but really I’m the strongest in my opinion about television and movies. I’ve been a television and movieRead More

Drop Everything and Start Watching TCM

Do you have so much free time that you don’t know what to do with yourself? Well me neither, but that’s beside the point. There’s always time for binging. I recently found out Turner Classic Movies allows you to stream online. EXCUSE ME?! Many television channels are now following the HBOGo standard—one cable subscription grants you mobile access to content. I’m not suggesting this is groundbreaking news – you’ve been illegally streaming for years. But, this is a smart move for premium and basic cable alike. If most people areRead More
