Stranded Octopus Causes Traffic Jam Tuesday morning a giant polystyrene octopus was left in the streets of central London causing quite the traffic headache. Many passersby stopped to take photos and were told to approach with care. The van transporting the creature broke down in the middle of the road. There were few details given as to where the octopus was headed. The service used for transportation believed it was headed for the World Cup. However the owner of the octopus says it was being taken to a film location.Read More
Weed Fairy Visits Seattle Over Memorial Day weekend, the “Weed Fairy” distributed free nuggets of marijuana to people in Seattle. Yeni Sleidi calls herself the Weed Fairy and decided to do this to amuse people and give them a break from their stressful lives. She taped free pot fliers around the city that stated: “These are tough times. Take this weed. And keep your spirits high.” Ba dum tsss. Sleidi claims she first created the idea when she lived in New York and constantly witnessed stress from the government shutdown.Read More
Children Take Bounce House Ride of a Lifetime I know I really shouldn’t joke about this but come on…it’s kinda funny. Besides, the children involved are okay, despite some injuries. On Monday of this week two young boys in New York were swept away while in their bounce house. A gust of wind blew the bounce house 15 to 20 feet in the air and the boys fell to the ground below. I know this is pretty scary but just imagine the scenario for a second. You’re telling me youRead More

Questions for Adulthood

I think I finally understand how the Trix Rabbit feels. Earlier today I was peeling a mandarin orange–otherwise known as a Cutie–and I noticed a little sticker that read, “Cuties are for kids!” So, is that a requirement? Are some angry children going to run after me demanding I hand over the Cuties? I find myself asking the same questions that poor rabbit asked regarding his colorful bowl of Trix. Why can’t I have a Cutie? Why do only kids get to indulge in their juicy deliciousness? Little a$$holes, nobodyRead More

Killer Robots Are Our Future

I know everyone is really excited about the robot hype in Japan. Asimo is so cute and it’s super cool to watch him run and jump and do tricks! I know we humans are happy to think we’ll have extra robot hands help us around the house or at work, etc. However, did you know the UN is currently debating whether or not we should have killer robots? And by killer robot I mean a fully autonomous weapon that can select and engage targets without any human intervention. So, RED FLAG.Read More

Monica Lewinsky is BACK!

After 10 long years of silence, Monica Lewinsky is BACK and discussing in Vanity Fair magazine how she deeply regrets her fling with President Clinton. She claims she was taken advantage of and preyed on. However, she does still stand by her original words that it was a consensual relationship.  Lewinsky says she will be focusing her life on helping victims of harassment and humiliation. Oh Monica. That’s great you want to help out others but I love that you’re playing the victim after all these years. You knew exactlyRead More
It’s Raining Fish in Sri Lanka! Yes that’s correct. And I’m not talking about cats and dogs here, I really mean fish. On Monday, during a rainstorm in Sri Lanka, villagers were surprised to have over 50kg of fish come down as well. It is believed the fish were pulled from a nearby river. This is not the first time the country has seen fish rain. Early in 2012 a nearby village witnessed prawns fall from the sky. So I guess this is kinda cool. Talk about your endless sushiRead More

Dead Cats Found Hanging From Trees in NYC About 25 cats were found hanging from some trees in a suburb of New York, many had been dead for the past year. Many of the cats were found with their heads smashed in, in a very disturbing and violent display. Investigators do not have any leads yet as the animals’ times of death vary from years to 3 days. I know this is a pretty morbid WTF story but it’s pretty strange. Someone must really not like cats. I’m not sureRead More
Trend on the Rise: Children Climbing into Claw Crane Games Earlier this week a little girl climbed into a claw machine and began passing out toys to others. However, this is the second time within a week that this has happened. Coincidence? I think not. I don’t blame these kids. Those games are so frustrating. So, if I were small enough to crawl in and grab my own toys, why not? That’s a game within itself. The fun challenge is to find your way back out. But apparently this isn’tRead More

Utah Family Shows Up Cher from Clueless Okay so this story is mostly depressing, but after reading into the facts more I’m thinking there’s something very strange going on here. A woman in Utah has been accused of killing six of her own babies and storing the bodies in boxes in her garage. Megan Huntsman admitted to strangling and suffocating the children immediately after their births. So all of that is completely disgusting and wrong but here’s the really weird WTF part that got me. Huntsman’s husband had no ideaRead More

Smart Car Tipping Crime Spree Earlier this week in San Francisco. four Smart cars were turned on their sides in an act of vandalism. Police are investigating suspects and so far the only lead they have are reports of seven hooded figures. Someone call Snow White! Just kidding, there were no reports on their height. Authorities are also trying to decide whether these are just random crime acts or a protest/hate-crime against Smart cars. But you know what I think? I think those hipster city-folk want to have their ownRead More

Discover A Whole New Underwater World

Today, over 40% of the world’s population of coral reefs has been completely destroyed. The loss of these ecosystems creates significant social, economic, cultural, and ecological problems for humans worldwide. Eco-sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor saw this problem, and began a creative and artistic project to help slow down the destruction and rebuild ocean communities. Underneath the surface of the water in Cancun, Mexico lies a living and ever-changing museum of sculptures. Taylor chose specific areas for his sculptures to act as artificial reefs to attract corals, increase marine biomass and aggregateRead More

Ten of the Most Beautiful Book Stores

If you’re like me and go gah-gah over books then you’ll enjoy the beauty of these book stores from around the world. BBC did their research and I’m ready to jet set around the world for some visits. Here they are, in no particular order: 1. Polare, Maastrict This store in the Netherlands operates out of a 700 year old Dominican church. It is absolutely beautiful from the entrance to all the way through.   2. El Ateneo, Buenos Aires This building was originally built as a theater in 1919.Read More
